Box Score The Spring Hill College (SHC) baseball team won a 5-3 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) verdict over the LeMoyne-Owen College (LOC) Magicians on Friday night at historic Stan Galle Field.

The Magicians (1-12, 0-2 SIAC) trailed SHC five -1 after five innings of play, but rallied to make it a 5-2 game off a solo home run to left by catcher Deanthony Baker in the 6
th inning and then 5-3 in the 8
th frame when second baseman Anthony Owen drove a run-scoring single between 3
rd base and shortstop with the base-loaded and two outs.

LOC brought the go-ahead runs to the plate in both the 8
th and 9
th innings, but reliever
Michael Romano put out the fire in the first instance with a strike out and a ground ball to 2
nd baseman
Maverick Latour and
Hunter DArmond picked up his fourth save of the year with a swinging strike out to end the game.

Badger starter
Sean Bretz (3-1) went 7.1 innings and allowed eight hits with a walk and seven strike outs while Dexwin Thompson of LOC went the distance with nine hits allowed, two walks and six strike outs.

At the plate, D'Armond had two hits after entering the game at 1
st base to start the 3
rd inning, while left fielder
Conner Harrison had two hits including a double and an RBI. Baker and Owen each had three hits and an RBI for the visitors from Memphis, Tenn.

The Badgers (14-13, 4-0 SIAC) will wrap up this three-game series versus LOC with a double header on Saturday at 10 a.m. on Stan Galle Field.
