Box Score The Spring Hill College (SHC) baseball team fought its way to a 5-2 non-conference victory over the Mississippi College (MC) Choctaws on Wednesday afternoon at historic Stan Galle Field.

The Choctaws (2-14) grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the top of the 3
rd inning when center fielder William Elliot drove in a run off a grounder to 2
nd base, but the Badger bounced back in the 3
rd frame with a two-run home run to right by designated hitter
Brennan Fontenot for his second round-tripper of the year.

Spring Hill tacked on a third run in the 5
th inning as left fielder
Conner Harrison drove an RBI-single through left side with two outs to score first baseman
Michael Druhan from 3
rd base. MC left fielder Casey Echols cut the score to 3-2 in the 8
th inning with a double over the bag at 3
rd base to plate third baseman Blain Crim from 2
nd base, but
Hunter DArmond would come in to pick up his third save of the season with a fly ball to left and a ground out to short.

SHC would put two insurance runs on the board in the bottom of the 8
th inning with a bases-loaded walk by Fontenot and a sacrifice fly to center by Druhan.

Justin Whitsett (3-1) earned the win in four innings with no hits, no walks and two strike outs after coming into the game to relieve starter
Sean Bretz who went three innings with two hits, three walks and two strike outs. D'Armond surrendered one hit with no walks and a strike out in his 1.2 innings of work.

At the plate, Fontenot finished the day with a 2-for-3 performance and three RBI while Harrison was 3-for-4 with an RBI.

Zack Ingram (0-4) took the loss in 6.1 innings with eight hits, a walk, four strike outs and two hit batters. Echols was 2-for-3 with his second double of the year and an RBI.

The Badgers (9-8) will next host the University of West Alabama Tigers (10-5) in a non-conference game at Stan Galle Field on Wednesday, March 8, beginning at 3 p.m.
