MOBILE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) volleyball team accepted a 3-1 (24-26, 18-25, 25-22, 20-25) non-conference loss to the University of Mobile (UM) Lady Rams on Saturday afternoon at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
The Lady Rams (33-3) rallied from an early 10-4 deficit to take a 15-14 lead and then dug themselves from a late 23-20 hole to earn a 26-24 victory in the first set. SHC fell behind 8-1 in the second set and never fully recovered as UM sailed to a 25-18 win.
SHC righted the ship in the third set to take triumph 25-22 despite trailing 11-5 in the early going. The fourth set saw the Badgers claim an early 8-5 advantage, but Mobile used a 4-0 run midway through the stanza to claw out a 17-15 margin. Spring Hill would fight back to tie the set at 19-19 only to see Mobile take six of the final seven points for the 25-20 set decision and a 3-1 win in the match.

Cassidi Sterrett scooped up 16 digs. The Badgers built .132 (51-26-189) attack percentage with three aces, 73 digs and eight blocks (two solo, 12 assisted).
Mobile compiled a .244 (65-23-172) attack percentage with three aces, 90 digs and 12 blocks (four solo and 16 assisted). Alex Karcher and Mirella Gatterdam had 17 kills apiece while Annie Kate Hudson collected 55 assists. Jocelyn Mahayag found 30 digs and Samantha Nichols had four solo and four assisted blocks.
The Badgers (26-5, 17-0 SIAC) will finish the 2017 season at home in the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center on Monday at 6 p.m. with a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) match versus the Tuskegee University (TU) Golden Tigers (6-24, 5-12 SIAC). Before the match, the Badgers will honor their lone Senior Class teammate,
Katelyn Bobinger, with the annual Senior Night ceremony.
