Lions outlast Badger women in OT, 1-0
FLORENCE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) women's soccer team suffered a heart-breaking 1-0 Gulf South Conference (GSC) overtime road loss to the University of North Alabama (UNA) Lions at the Bill Jones Athletic Complex on Sunday afternoon.

The Lions (11-3-1; 10-2-1 GSC) and the Badgers battled to a 0-0 tie after 90 minutes of play in regulation, but the Lions stopped the contest in the 2nd minute of overtime when Michelle Hunter found her 5th goal of the season off an assist from Morgan Brown.

Overall, SHC goalkeeper HP Fluharty (0-12) made eight saves versus 26 shots and six corner kicks while Shelby Thorton (10-3-1) had no saves against one shot and two Badger corner attempts.

"We are so proud of this group," said SHC head coach Allison Whitworth following the game. "We've become the team we were working for all year. Every single player contributed to a team performance to stay with a team that has been ranked or receiving votes all year. The young players are no longer young. Aiesha Ledda led the team with a stalwart effort. It's hard to single any player out because of the total effort. We can't wait to see them versus West Florida on Thursday at home."

The Badgers (1-16, 0-13 GSC) will close out the 2017 season at home on Library Field on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. versus the University of West Florida (UWF) Argonauts
