Badger volleyball dismounts Lady Knights, 3-0
MOBILE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) volleyball team swept to a 3-0 (25-11, 25-15, 25-13) non-conference home victory over the Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) Lady Knights on Thursday night at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
 
In the opening set, SHC cruised to a 12-4 advantage before closing out the frame 25-11. SUNO kept the second set close in the early stages and found themselves down 8-5, but two 5-point runs midway through the set made it a 20-8 score with the Badgers winning 25-15. The final set saw the Badgers clinging to a 5-4 margin, but a 7-0 run turned a 10-7 SHC lead into a 17-7 hole for the Lady Knights as SHC closed the night with a 25-13 score.
 
Overall, the Badgers built a .389 (47-10-95) attack percentage with four services aces, 52 digs and three blocks (0, 6). Freshman Allison Weimer collected 11 kills as junior setter Hannah Fromdahl issued 20 assists and sophomore libero Cassidi Sterrett scooped up 12 digs.
 
SHC held the Lady Knights (5-16) to a .031 (21-18-96) attack percentage with two aces, 34 digs and three blocks (1, 4). Marija Stojiljkovic had 16 assists while Tijana Milica earned 13 digs.
 
The Badgers (23-3) will travel to the University of Montevallo (Ala.) on Saturday to play the Falcons (9-10) and the Auburn University Montgomery (AUM) Warhawks (8-11) in a tri-match beginning with AUM at 2 p.m. followed at 4 p.m. against the host Falcons in Trustmark Arena.
