Badger women freeze out Albany State, 54-47
Box Score ALBANY, Ga. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) women's basketball team earned a 54-47 road victory over Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) East Division opponent Albany State University (ASU) at the HPER Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.
 
SHC led the Lady Rams (1-13; 1-4 SIAC East) by a 12-9 margin after the 1st quarter and 26-18 at the intermission. By the start of the 4th period the Badgers held 39-29 advantage and kept ASU at arm's length for the final 10 minutes of the contest.
 
Jewel Hill scored 11 points to pace SHC as the Badgers shot just 28% (14-50) from the floor and 20% (2-10) from 3-point distance while committing 22 turnovers against just six Lady Ram steals.
 
The Lady Rams shot 30% (18-60) overall including 27.3% (3-11) from 3-point range. ASU out-rebounded SHC 47-45 and lost 21 turnovers to a team season-high 14 Badger steals. Elesha Foster scored 11 points with 11 rebounds for Albany State while Zuri Frost added 10 points and Tyra Thompson brought in 13 rebounds for the home team.
 
Spring Hill (6-5, 2-1 SIAC West) wraps up this three-game road swing through the SIAC on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. versus the Tuskegee University (ASU) Tigerettes (5-7, 1-2 SIAC West) in the General Daniel "Chappie" James Center for Aerospace Science and Health Education at Tuskegee, Ala.
