SHC Bowling takes 3 of 4 titles at SWIBC V, VI Tournaments
The Spring Hill College (SHC) men's bowling team finished 1st at both the SWIBC V and VI tournaments in Arlington and Plano, Texas, on Saturday and Sunday while the women's team placed 1st and 2nd respectively in the same events.
 
For the men's team, SHC scored a total of 9,007 (778, 860, 877, 836) pins at the SWIBC V Tournament to finish 785 pins ahead of 2nd place West Texas A&M and for the championship in a field of 12 teams. The JV men's team finished in 2nd place of three teams with a score of 7116.
 
Individually, senior Ryan Hauck rolled to a 1258-pin total at the SWIBC V for an average of 251.6 earning the individual title over a field of 86 competitors and then repeated the feat the next day with a 209.8 average with a 1049-pins total for the win over a field of 87 fellow bowlers.
 
The ladies scored 7625 (782, 696, 772, 775) pins at SWIBC V for 1st place in a field of five teams and 2nd of five teams by just 23 pins at the SWIBC VI Tournament after a total score of 7096 (662, 717, 739, 670).
 
Senior Miranda Singer placed 2nd in a field of 31 competitors at SWIBC V with a 1019-pin total for an average of 203.8 and then won the SWIBC VI event the next day with an average of 187.0 for a 935-pin total in a field of 31 bowlers.
 
Spring Hill will next compete in the Florida A&M Rattler Invitational in Tallahassee, Fla., on January 27-29.
