Benedict breaks away in 4th quarter to down SHC 64-52
Box Score The Spring Hill College (SHC) women's basketball team lost a 64-52 home decision to Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) foes the Benedict College (BC) Lady Tigers at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center on Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Tigers (10-7, 6-1 SIAC East) bolted out to a 10-2 lead just five minutes into the game, but the Badgers fought back to tie the game at 16-16 off a 3-pointer by Jewel Hill with seven minutes left in the half. SHC then took the lead at 18-16 with a layup from Daja Walker with 5:33 on the clock, but BC rallied to carry a 22-20 margin into the locker rooms at halftime.

BC built a 37-28 advantage five minutes in the 3rd quarter only to see the Badgers once again rally and shave the deficit down to 41-39 heading into the 4th quarter. Three minutes into the final period, BC launched a 10-1 run that turned a 45-43 Badger hole into a 55-44 crater with just three minutes left in the game effectively to salt away the victory.

Spring Hill shot 27.9% (19-68) from the floor including a 25.9% (7-27) performance from 3-point distance. Hill was the offense spark for the Badgers scoring 16 points as the home team lost 20 turnovers to six Lady Tiger steals.

The Lady Tigers were paced by Simone Roberts with 13 points as four BC players reached double-digits in scoring for the night. Destiny Betts tallied 12 points and 10 rebounds as BC out-rebounded the Badgers 52-40 and outscored SHC 30-18 in the paint. Benedict lost 23 turnovers to seven SHC steals.

Spring Hill (7-6, 3-2 SIAC West) will host the Claflin University Lady Panthers (10-6, 5-1 SIAC East) in an SIAC tilt on Monday at 5:30 p.m. in the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
