Buccaneers use late goal to sink Badger women, 1-0
Box Score The Spring Hill College (SHC) women's soccer team opened the 2016 Gulf South Conference (GSC) season with a 1-0 home loss to the Christian Brothers University (CBU) Buccaneers at a wet Library Field on Friday afternoon.

After an hour-long rain delay before kickoff, the Buccaneers (1-4, 1-0 GSC) and the Badgers battled for over 88 minutes until CBU finally hit pay dirt with a goal in the 89th minute as Lauren Magdefrau took in a long looping entry pass over traffic from Sydney Piper off the right side and chipped in a short shot at the left post.

Badger freshman goalkeeper Kayla Beaston (0-4-1) made seven saves against 19 shots and 12 corner kicks by CBU while Emily Wragg (1-4) of the Buccaneers made four saves versus eight shots and four corner opportunities by Spring Hill.

The Badgers (0-4-1, 0-1 GSC) will next host the Union University Bulldogs (0-2-1, 0-0 GSC) in a conference match on Sunday at 1 p.m. on Library Field.
