Mobile takes 3-1 victory over SHC Volleyball
Box Score The Spring Hill College (SHC) volleyball team suffered a 3-1 (21-25, 25-21, 25-20, 26-24) non-conference loss to the University of Mobile (UM) Lady Rams on Tuesday night at H. Austill Pharr Gymnasium.
 
Spring Hill rallied from an early 6-9 deficit to win the first set 25-21 over the Lady Rams (8-4), but Mobile took a commanding 17-12 lead in the second set in route to evening the match at 1-1 with a 25-21 victory.
 
In the third set, SHC saw a 17-14 advantage evaporate during an 8-1 run by the Lady Rams who finished out the set in a 25-20 score. In the fourth and final set, the Badger held a late 23-19 lead only to watch as Mobile took seven of the last eight points to earn the 26-24 victory.
 
After the match SHC head coach Peggy Martin said, "It's a tough environment to play in at Mobile and it was the first time for our freshmen. Some handled it well and some not so much.  We had great moments, just not enough of them. Credit Mobile with the overall better and more consistent play."
 
Senior Madison Seuzeneau paced SHC with 15 kills while freshman Sarah Senft added 14 kills. Freshman Anna Tietjens distributed 32 assists while senior Molly Griffin scooped in 20 digs. Freshman Cassidi Sterrett put 19 digs on the board as junior Savannah Becnel had a solo block and five block assists at the net. As a team, the Badger recorded a .157 (42-20-140) attack percentage with four aces, 62 digs, and six (1-10) blocks, but suffered 10 service errors three blocking errors and three ball handling errors.
 
Mobile was led by Hannah Buck with 18 kills Hannah Seale with 24 assists and Jessica Bagwell with 18 digs. The Lady Rams hit for a .271 (56-18-140) average with five aces, 69 digs and 10 (3-14) blocks. UMobile hurt themselves with 15 service errors, five block errors and five ball handling errors.
 
The Badgers (8-3) will next visit the Gold Rush (6-10) of Xavier University (La.) for a non-conference match at 6 p.m. on Thursday at the Convocation Center in New Orleans.
