Baseball breaks Thorobreds in SIAC DH, 17-2 & 12-6
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) baseball team swept a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) road doubleheader away from the Kentucky State University (KSU) Thorobreds by the scores of 17-2 and 12-6 on Saturday afternoon.

SHC dominated the Thorobreds (8-17, 6-5 SIAC) in the first game as Badger starter Wesley Parrish (5-3) went the distance with five hits allowed, four walks and nine strike outs. At the plate, SHC third baseman Matthew Spradlin enjoyed a 3-for-4 outing with a home run and four RBI while catcher Alex Jones was 2-for-2 with three RBI. Shortstop Maverick Latour had three hits in three at-bats as sophomore outfielder Conner Harrison slapped his first career home run.

Early in the second game, Spring Hill raced out to a 6-1 lead only to see the Thorobreds claw back to within 7-6. The Badger bats would reawaken over the final two frames, however, as SHC finished the nightcap with a 12-6 victory.

Spradlin continued to shine in the later game by cracking a Grand Slam home run in the top of the 6th inning to fend off the Thorobred rally. Jones also did his part with his 8th and 9th dingers of the year while Michael Druhan added a solo shot for his 7th home run of the season. Harrison crushed a long home run out of the stadium and into the field beyond right field to put an exclamation point on his day.

On the mound, Dylan Kiene moved to 5-2 on the year with a six inning performance that included six hits, four walks and two strike outs. Hunter Nowak closed out the final inning allowing just one walk.

The Badgers (18-13, 9-2 SIAC) will remain in Frankfort to wrap up this three-game series with KSU in a single game on Sunday beginning at noon.
