Spring Hill completes 3-game sweep of Tuskegee, 13-3
Box Score MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) baseball team completed a three-game Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) series sweep of the Tuskegee University Golden Tigers with a 13-3 verdict on Sunday afternoon at Paterson Field.

The Golden Tigers (9-24; 5-10 SIAC) and Spring Hill were tied at 2-2 after three innings of play when senior catcher Alex Jones put the Badgers up 6-2 with a one-out Grand Slam to left-centerfield in the 4th inning for his 11th round-tripper of the year.

First baseman William Floros tacked on a seventh run for SHC in the 6th inning with a single down the right field line to score third baseman Matthew Spradlin from 2nd base. Center fielder Ulysses Fluellen drove in run Number 8 with a single to plate Floros and left fielder Conner Harrison scored Jones one batter later with a groundout to the infield.

In the top of the 7th frame, the Badger strung together a run-scoring double by Jones followed by a sacrifice fly by right fielder Michael Druhan, an RBI-double by Fluellen and an infield error by the Tigers to take a 13-2 lead.

Tuskegee centerfielder Alexander Henderson singled in a run in the bottom of the inning to make it a 13-3 game, but the Tigers would get no closer as SHC secured the 10-Run Mercy Rule victory with a bases-loaded groundout to shortstop Maverick Latour for the final out.

Christian Bahlinger (6-2) went the distance for his second shutout and fourth complete game of the year. The junior right-hander scattered four hits with five walks and five strike outs on the day. Reliever Ricky Green (1-1) was saddled with the loss for Tuskegee in just two innings of work with five hits, three walks and two strike outs. Tiger starter Eugene Mabota lasted three innings with three hits, four walks and no strike outs.

At the plate, Jones enjoyed a 4-for-5 day with five RBI to lift his season batting average to .450 while Fluellen and Floros both tallied two hits.

The Badgers (26-14; 16-2 SIAC) will host archrivals the University of Mobile Rams (29-16) in a non-conference game on Tuesday at 5 p.m. at historic Stan Galle Field.
