Box Score MOBILE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) baseball team took a 10-5 non-conference victory over Jesuit rival the Loyola University (La.) Wolf Pack on Tuesday evening at historic Stan Galle Field.
The Wolf Pack (18-26) grabbed a 2-0 lead with runs in the 1
st and 2
nd innings, but SHC roared back with a three-run bottom of the 3
rd inning highlighted by right fielder
Michael Druhan's RBI-single up the middle with two outs to give the Badgers a 3-2 advantage. Loyola answered the challenge with a run-scoring single by center fielder Elam Rawlings in the top off the 4
th inning to knot the score at 3-3, but the Badgers exploded for seven runs in the 5
th frame to build out a 10-3 bulge. Loyola first baseman Luis Angiuzola lifted a towering two-run home run out of right field in the 6
th inning, but the Wolf Pack would draw no closer.

Andrew Pierson (4-0) of Spring Hill earned the win in relief of freshman starter
Austin Barrios with 5.2 innings of work, four hits allowed, a walk and three strike outs. Barrios lasts 3.1 innings with eight hits, two walks and two strike outs. Loyola starter Jordan Green went three innings with five hits, a walk and no strike outs while Dylan Gregoire (0-1) took the loss in his first appearance of the year in one inning with four hits, two walks and one strike out. In total, Loyola sent a parade of six pitchers to the mound on the night.
At the plate, SHC pounded out 13 total hits including five doubles as Druhan led the charge with a 4-for-4 night with a double and three RBI. Center fielder
Ulysses Fluellen had three hits with a double and two RBI, while third baseman
Matthew Spradlin had two hits including a double and an RBI. Shortstop
Maverick Latour added two more hits with a double. Second baseman
Thomas Smith collected both a sacrifice bunt, a sacrifice fly and a hit-by-pitch for the most selfless performance of the night. His hit-by-pitch in the 8
th inning was the 68
th time a Badger has been plunked in 2016, tying the team record set in 2015.
The Badgers (23-14) will travel to Livingston, Ala., on Wednesday to face non-conference opponent the University of West Alabama (UWA) Tigers (27-11) at 4 p.m. on Tartt Field.
