Badger rally falls short in 10th as UWF wins 6-5
Box Score PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) baseball team rallied to tie the game in the 9th inning after falling behind 5-0 in the first two innings, but the University of West Florida Argonauts scratched out a run in the bottom of the 10th frame to earn a 6-5 non-conference decision at Jim Spooner Field on Wednesday night.

The Argonauts (12-7) grabbed a 5-0 lead after two innings off Badger starter Johnathan Billings, but Spring Hill began to chip away at the lead when junior centerfielder Ulysses Fluellen lifted a solo home run in the 6th inning for his second dinger of the year. SHC then cut it to a 5-2 margin in the 7th inning when third baseman Matthew Spradlin scored off an Argonaut infield throwing error.

In the top of the 9th inning, the Badgers rallied for three runs when first baseman William Floros got a ball past his UWF counterpart Justin Ambrosino with the bases loaded to score two runs and catcher Alex Jones drove an RBI-single into left to score Spradlin and tie the game at 5-5.

UWF took the walk-off win in the 10th inning when they tallied three consecutive singles with the final hit coming off the bat of pinch hitter Brandon Tyler to score pinch runner Ledeavon Matthews from 2nd base with one out.

Badger reliever Hunter Nowak took the loss in 2.1 innings of work with three hits, two walks and no strike outs while Steven McClellan lassoed the win in two innings of effort with four hits, no walks and a strike out.

At the plate, Fluellen enjoyed a 5-for-3 night while Spradlin, Floros and shortstop Garrett Webb each had a pair of hits for Spring Hill. UWF was paced by Ambrosino with three hits, including a double and an RBI.

The Badgers (10-9, 3-0 SIAC) next host the Stillman College Tigers (2-16, 0-0 SIAC) on Saturday in a conference doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m. on historic Stan Galle Field.
