Miles takes 2-of-3 from Badger Baseball
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) baseball team suffered two losses sandwiched around a 4-1 victory versus the Miles College Golden Bears on Friday and Saturday at Rickwood Field.

The Golden Bears (17-11, 6-3 SIAC) earned a 6-3 win on Friday afternoon as Austin Pate (3-1) collected a complete-game victory with six hits allowed, two walks and nine strike outs. Wesley Parrish (4-3) took the loss for the Badgers in six innings with five hits, two walks and five strike outs. SHC also hurt itself with six errors in the field behind Parrish.

Junior center fielder Ulysses Fluellen went 2-for-4 for SHC at the plate with a double and his fourth home run of the year. For Miles, designated hitter Aaron Williams was 3-for-5 with a double and two RBI.

On Saturday, a bases-loaded, two-out dropped fly ball in the outfield resulted in three unearned runs crossing the plate for the Badgers in the 4th inning as Spring Hill took the 4-1 victory behind the complete-game pitching of Dylan Kiene (4-2). Kiene allowed five hits with two walks and five strike outs. Third baseman Matthew Spradlin and right fielder Michael Druhan both went 2-for-3 with a run scored for the Badgers.

For Miles, Dylan Johnson (1-4) took the complete-game loss with five hits, a walk and five strike outs as center fielder Ryan Bargery had a hit with an RBI in the 7th inning for the Golden Bears.

The rubber game went to the Bears in a 1-0 thriller as Miles scored an unearned run in the bottom of the 1st inning off a ground out by first baseman Keland Smith that brought in Bargery from 3rd base and starter Jacob Schuster (6-0) made the run stand up with a shut-out performance on the mound. Schuster allowed SHC just three hits with four walks and two strike outs. Christian Bahlinger (3-2) took the loss despite a complete-game performance with just three hits, no walks and four strike outs.

The Badgers (15-13, 7-2 SIAC) will next travel to Clinton, Miss., on Tuesday to face the Mississippi College Choctaws (12-15) in a non-conference tilt at Frierson Field beginning at 4 p.m.
