Michael Druhan put Spring Hill up 1-0 over the Falcons (17-13) in the 2nd inning with a lead-off home run to left field, but UM first baseman Taylor Walker answered in the bottom of the frame with a solo shot to knot the game at 1-1.

Thomas Smith drove a double down the left field line to open the stanza and later scored off a grounder to shortstop by third baseman

Johnathan Billings (0-3) followed by a bases-loaded walk allowed the Falcons to tie the game back up 2-2 in the bottom of the 3rd inning.
A second bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the 4th inning was followed by a run-scoring wild pitch by Billings that staked the Falcons to a 4-2 advantage that quickly grew to 10-2 later in the frame off an infield single and three consecutive doubles by Montevallo off SHC reliever
Andrew Pierson.
Senior catcher
Alex Jones connected on a solo home run in the 5th inning to shave the UM lead down to 10-3, but the Falcons would tack on three runs in the 7th and 8th innings to earn the victory via the 10-run Mercy Rule.
UM reliever Chris Piteo (2-0) picked up the victory in 2.1 innings with four hits, a walk and four strikeouts while Billings took the loss for the Badgers in 3.2 innings with four hits, five walks and three strike outs.
For SHC at the plate, Jones and shortstop
Garrett Webb each registered 3-for-4 efforts on the night.
The Badgers (14-11, 6-0 SIAC) will next visit conference foe the Miles College Golden Bears (15-9, 4-2 SIAC) at 12 p.m. on Friday at Rickwood Field in Birmingham.
