Badgers fend off Tiger rally with walk-off sac fly in 5-4 win
Box Score The Spring Hill College (SHC) baseball team finished a three-game Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) series sweep of the Stillman College Tigers in dramatic fashion on Monday afternoon at historic Stan Galle Field as the Tigers rallied to tie the game at 4-4 in the 9th inning only to see Ulysses Fluellen lift a towering one-out sacrifice fly to deep left in the bottom of the frame to plate Matthew Spradlin from 3rd base for a walk-off 5-4 victory.

After falling behind 4-1 after five innings, Stillman (2-19, 0-3 SIAC) rallied for two runs in the 8th inning off an RBI single to right center by left fielder Hank Parker and shortstop Adam Bonner beating out the backend of a possible inning-ending double play at 1st base to bring in catcher Taylor Ellis. Ellis later floated a sacrifice fly to Fluellen in centerfield in the top of the 9th inning to tie the game at 4-4.

Spring Hill took an early 3-0 lead in the 1st inning as right fielder Michael Druhan drove in Spadlin with a solid single to left for the game's first run and shortstop Garrett Webb ripped a two-run single to right-center with two outs.

In the second inning, Stillman second baseman Lucas Bigler hit a deep fly ball that just creeped out of right field for his first home run of the year to make it a 3-1 game, but the Badgers responded in the 5th inning with a run-scoring single by Webb to bring in Fluellen.

Hunter Nowak (2-1) picked up the win in 1.1 innings of relief work with no hits, a walk and two strike outs. Badger starter Christian Bahlinger lasted 4.2 inning with five hits, three walks and four strike outs as middle reliever Andrew Pierson worked three full innings with five hits, no walks and three strike outs.

For Stillman, Dakota Todd (0-5) took the loss in 3.2 innings of relief with just one hit allowed, two walks and four strike outs. Kewayne McCray had a five-inning no-decision start allowing four hits, seven walks and seven strike outs.

The Tigers actually out-hit the Badgers 10-5, but hurt themselves with four errors and nine walks on defense. Webb paced SHC with two hits and three RBI while center fielder Nick Vitale of Stillman was 3-for-5 with a double. Parker and Tiger first baseman Dalton Reach each had two hits for the visitors from Tuscaloosa.

The Badgers (13-9, 6-0 SIAC) next face the Morthland College Patriots (0-11) on Thursday at 2 p.m. on historic Stan Galle Field.
