Lions prevent Badger sweep with 7-4 Sunday win
Box Score The Spring Hill College (SHC) baseball team lost a 7-4 non-conference decision to the University of North Alabama (UNA) Lions on Sunday afternoon at historic Stan Galle Field, but still won the weekend series 2-1 following two wins on Saturday.

Starting pitchers Riley Sanderson (2-0) of the Lions (5-2) and Christian Bahlinger (1-1) of the Badgers locked horns in a classic pitchers' duel through the first four innings of play until UNA first baseman Kyle Hubbuch mashed a Grand Slam out of right field with two outs in the top of the 5th inning to stake the visitors to a 4-0 lead.

The Lions added three more runs in the 7th inning when Badger reliever Andrew Pierson surrendered two hits, a walk and a sacrifice fly along with an infield error before ending the frame with two ground ball outs.

Sanderson would not allow a baserunner until SHC first baseman William Floros connected for a double down the right field line with two outs in the 5th inning. Sanderson went six innings and gave up just two hits with seven strike outs and no walks in the win while Bahlinger lasted 5.2 innings with six hits, three walks and three strike outs.

Spring Hill broke onto the scoreboard in the 8th inning off UNA reliever Dylan Stewart when Floros again put a ball safely into right field to bring in left fielder Austyn Jacques. The Badgers also made things interesting by bring the tying run to the plate with two outs in the 9th inning after scoring three runs off two hits aided by two UNA errors. With runners at the corners, Floros connected on a fly ball that just lacked the distance before being tracked by centerfielder Brandon Pugh to end the game.

Floros had two hits and an RBI for SHC as Jacques came off the bench to contribute two hits and a run scored. Hubbuch had just the one hit for UNA, but earned five RBI and second baseman Kyle Crabtree pitched in two hits including a double,

The Badgers (4-3) host the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) Chargers (2-3) on Wednesday in a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. at historic Stan Galle Field.
