Box Score MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) women's basketball team opened a two-week, four-game road trip by dropping an 85-70 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) West Division decision to the LeMoyne-Owen College (LOC) Lady Magicians at Bruce/Johnson Hall on Monday evening.
The Lady Magicians (6-13, 4-7 SIAC West) led 34-33 at halftime and expanded that advantage to 56-50 at the end of the third period. In the final 10 minutes of play, LOC would out-distance the Badgers 29-20 to cruise to the 15-point victory.
SHC was led by
Alishia DraytonLewis and
Leah Washington with 11 points each while
Camry Johnson and
Tiffany Valentine each bucketed another 10 points for Spring Hill. The Badger shot 38.7% (29-75) for the contest including 30.4% (7-23) from 3-point range. Spring Hill out-rebounded LOC 40-37, but lost 18 turnovers to eight steals by the Magicians that turned into 19 points on the end for the home team.
Crystal Shields led the Lady Magicians with 21 points off the bench while Shantiera Miller and Teresa Mays both contributed 17 points. Ashley Seaton added 11 points for LOC. In total, LeMoyne-Owen shot 45.3% (29-64) from the floor and 45.5% (5-11) from 3-point distance while losing 15 turnovers to 10 Badger steals. At the free throw line the Lady Magicians drained 84.6% (22-26) of their trips to charity stripe.
The Badgers (7-13, 5-6 SIAC West) will now travel to Wilberforce, Ohio, for an SIAC matchup with the Central State University Lady Marauders (8-9, 4-6 SIAC West) at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Beacom/Lewis Gym.
