Volleyball closes season with 3-0 win over Tuskegee
Box Score The Spring Hill College (SHC) volleyball team closed out the 2016 season with a 3-0 (25-13, 25-10, 25-9) Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) victory over the Tuskegee University Lady Golden Tigers on Friday night at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
 
The Lady Golden Tigers (11-16, 11-8 SIAC) saw the Badgers bolt out to a 9-3 early advantage in the first set, but rallied to cut the deficit to 13-10 before 7-1 run by the Badgers made it a 20-11 score in route to a 25-13 victory.
 
In the second set SHC once again built a 9-4 lead and expanded its advantage out to 20-9 before closing the set at 25-10. The third and final set once again had the Badgers build a 9-4 cushion and close out the set and the match with a 7-point run to earn a 25-9 victory and a 3-set sweep of the match.
 
Senior Savannah Becnel ended her career with a game-high nine kills and two aces while fellow seniors Madison Seuzeneau had seven kills and Molly Griffin registered eight kills with nine digs. Redshirt freshman Anna Tietjens handed out 24 assists, freshman libero Cassidi Sterrett tallied 11 digs and freshman Brittany Bilotti scored three service aces.
 
As a team, SHC hit for a .305 (35-10-82) average with 10 aces, 45 digs and three (2-2) blocks while limiting Tuskegee to a -.048 (13-17-83) average with 12 assists, one ace, 34 digs and four (2-4) blocks.
 
In their final year of the NCAA transition process, Spring Hill finished the 2016 season with a 27-5 overall record including a perfect 18-0 mark in the SIAC.
