Box Score DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) men's soccer team began play at Embry-Riddle Invitational at ERAU Soccer Stadium on Friday evening with a 4-2 loss to the host Embry-Riddle Aeronautic University (ERAU) Eagles.
Spring Hill drew first blood in the 8
th minute of play when senior
Ibrahima Ndaw scored off an assist from the right side by sophomore
Tilman Schober, but the Eagles (3-9-3) answered back in the 41
st minute with a tally by Daniel Gylfason via a pass across the face of the goal by Knutur Bjornsson.
The Badgers took a 2-1 lead in the second half when
Donte Oliver beat the defense for an unassisted goal in the 59
th minute of play, but ERAU finished the game with three unanswered goals off a header by Ross Dickinson following an entry by Felix Moller in the 63
rd minute, an unassisted notch by Christian Mather in the 69
th minute, and an icing unassisted goal by Moller in the 81
st minute in which he twisted his way through the Badger defense to find the back of the net.
Badger redshirt freshman goalkeeper
Otto Candies (0-3) made five saves against 17 shots and three corner kicks by the Eagles while Richard Dearle of ERAU made two saves against 11 shots and three corner attempts by the Badgers.
The Badgers (2-13-1) will remain in Daytona Beach on Saturday for a non-conference contest versus the Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) Warhawks (5-13) at ERAU Soccer Stadium beginning at 3 p.m. (EDT).
