Volleyball opens SIAC West Cluster with three more wins
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 TUSKEGEE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) volleyball team earned three consecutive 3-0 conference victories on Thursday with wins over Miles College, Lane College and host Tuskegee University at the opening day of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) West Division Cluster.
 
Versus the Miles College Golden Bears, middle hitter Savannah Becnel tallied eight kills and a solo block while freshman libero Cassidi Sterrett scooped in 18 digs and 13 receptions as SHC cruised to a 25-9, 25-18, 25-12 victory. Freshmen setters Anna Tietjens and Emmarose Neibert had 18 and 15 sets respectively as the Badgers built a .302 (41-12.96) attack percentage with 12 aces, 65 digs and three solo blocks.
 
For the Badgers against the Lady Dragons of Lane College, freshmen Payton Gidney and Taylor Hurst had 15 and 13 kills respectively as Neibert handed out 34 assists. In total, SHC compiled a .358 (42-13-81) attack percentage with 19 aces, 37 digs and two (1-2) blocks in the 25-8, 25-17, 25-13 win.
 
The day's final match with the Tuskegee Golden Tigers, Spring Hill constructed a .280 (40-12-100) attack percentage with 13 service aces, 57 digs and one (0-2) block as they took a 25-14, 25-14, 25-13 victory. Freshman Sarah Senft tallied 11 kills and 14 digs and Tietjens distributed 31 assists.
 
The Badgers (19-3, 14-0 SIAC West) will remain in Tuskegee on Friday for the final day of the SIAC West Division Cluster beginning with Central State University at 10 a.m., followed by LeMoyne-Owen College at 2 p.m. and finishing with Kentucky State University at 6 p.m.
