Lady Choctaws ambush Badgers, 7-0
Box Score CLINTON, Miss. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) women's soccer team closed out its 2016 Gulf South Conference schedule with a 7-0 loss to the Mississippi College (MC) Lady Choctaws at Robert P. Longabaugh Field on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Lady Choctaws (12-4-1; 8-2-1 GSC) took a 3-0 lead into the halftime intermission off two goals by Kyra Montes in the 9th and 28th minutes sandwiched around a strike by Lauren Smith in the 16th minute. The second half saw MC record goals by Caitlyn Hayes and Sydney Oliver in the 57th and 83rd minutes while Emma Claire Fruman registered scores in the 62nd and 73rd minutes.
 
Badger redshirt freshman goalkeeper Hannah Shankman (0-4-1) made 11 saves versus 37 shots and 12 corner kicks by the Choctaws while her counterpart Melanie Hummert (1-0) of MC picked up four saves against eight shots and no corner attempts by Spring Hill.
 
The Badgers (0-14-3, 0-10-2 GSC) will wrap up the 2016 season at home on Library Field on Sunday, November 6, at 1 p.m. with a non-conference contest versus the Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) Warhawks (7-7-1).
