Argos sail past Badger men, 5-1
Box Score The Spring Hill College (SHC) men's soccer team closed out the 2016 home season with a 5-1 non-conference loss to the University of West Florida (UWF) Argonauts on Saturday afternoon at Library Field.
 
The Argos (8-5-2) used two goals by Chandler Castleman in the 24th and 30th minutes to build out an early lead that expanded to 3-0 by the intermission when Stephen Enderlin added another tally in 44th minute.
 
In the second period, Erick Rivera scored twice in the 58th and 77th minutes sandwiched around the lone Badger goal by Jordan Simon off a rebound of a saved shot by senior Ibrahima Ndaw at the start of the 70th minute of play.
 
Badger redshirt freshman goalkeeper Otto Candies (0-2) faced 18 shots and five corner kicks by the Argos to record five saves while Phil D'Amico of UWF made two saves in 82 minutes and reserve keeper Austin Zelnik made one save in eight minutes in-goal. All told, the Argos defended 11 Badger shots and six corner attempts.
 
The Badgers (2-12-1) will next travel to Daytona Beach, Fla., to face Embry Riddle Aeronautic University (ERAU) Eagles (2-8-3) in a non-conference match at ERAU Soccer Stadium at 6:30 p.m. (EDT).
