Badgers succumb to West Alabama, 4-0
Box Score The Spring Hill College (SHC) women's soccer team took a 4-0 Gulf South Conference (GSC) loss to the University of West Alabama (UWA) Tigers on Friday afternoon at Library Field.
 
The Tigers (9-5-1, 7-2-1 GSC) took a 1-0 lead into the halftime intermission via a free kick by Kirsten Reilly that came off the crossbar only to be cleaned up by TeMia Pride in the 13th minute.
 
In the second period, the Tigers erupted for three goals in two minutes as Reilly again attempted a free kick that was saved by SHC only to have Abigail Clark poke the ball home in the 70th minute, Pride scored in the 71st minute when her 25-yard shot caromed off the crossbar and into the goal following a crossing pass by Ellen Sanderson, and Chelsea Commings scored in the 72nd minute after Reilly needled a pass through the Badger defense for a one touch finish at the near post.
 
Badger freshman goalkeeper Kayla Beaston (0-10-2) faced 27 shots and 10 corner kicks by UWA and came away with six saves while Issy Foster (9-5-1) made one save versus five shots and one corner by SHC.
 
The Badgers (0-11-3, 0-7-2 GSC) will remain at home on Library Field this Sunday as they host GSC foe the University of Alabama Huntsville (UAH) Chargers (7-8, 3-7 GSC) at 1 p.m.
