UWA Tigers squeak past Badger men, 4-3
Box Score The Spring Hill College (SHC) men's soccer team underwent a see-saw Gulf South Conference (GSC) contest on Friday afternoon only to see the University of West Alabama (UWA) Tigers take away a 4-3 victory at Library Field.

The Tigers (9-5, 5-2 GSC) broke out to a 1-0 lead in the 8th minute as Oreva Amata scored when his rocket of a shot from eight yards out squirted through the diving Badger keeper's hands and somehow found the inside of the right post.

Spring Hill answered back in the 22nd minute with a tying goal by sophomore Viktor Kvarnlof off a loose ball following a corner kick that was shuttled to Kvarnlof by Haukur Bjornsson. Kvarnlof then added an assist to his totals when he fed freshman Donte Oliver who scored from eight yards out just 39 seconds into the 2nd half.

AJ Williams of UWA tied the game at 2-2 with a goal from 10 yards out in the 70th minute and Samuel Mawuko staked the Tigers to a 3-2 lead in the 74th minute with a 22-yard strike into the top of the goal off a midfield pass from Trigg Langer.

Refusing to be outdone, the Badgers once again battled back to knot the contest at 3-3 in the 76th minute when Tapfuma Dimairo cleaned up a shot by Oliver that was saved by the keeper. The deciding goal came when Williams ripped a shot that was saved by the SHC defense only to have Sam Todd poke home the winning goal in the 84th minute of play.

Badger senior goalkeeper Will Carpenter (2-10-1) faced 16 shots and four corner kicks to collect four saves against the Tigers while Brad Louis (9-5) earned four saves versus 11 shots and two corner attempts by Spring Hill.

The Badgers (2-10-1, 1-7 GSC) will remain at home on Library Field on Sunday to face the University of Alabama Huntsville (UAH) Chargers (4-8-1, 2-3-1 GSC) in a conference match at 3:30 p.m.
