Lady Argos swamp Badgers, 5-0
Box Score The Spring Hill College (SHC) women's soccer team suffered a 5-0 conference home loss to the University of West Florida (UWF) Lady Argos on Saturday afternoon at Library Field.

The Badger defense fought valiantly in the first half, but finally cracked with just 10 seconds left until the intermission when Bri Young found Daryl Bell for a tally to post the Lady Argos (4-1, 1-0 GSC) to a 1-0 advantage going to the break.

A second goal came for the Lady Argos in the 53rd minute when Kaley Warde accepted a pass from Svenja Burkhardt and scored from the left side of the box. Badger senior goalkeeper Maggie Dalessio (0-3-2) briefly pinned the ball against the crossbar with a nice leaping effort, but she could not prevent the ball from crossing the goal line on the way down.

Emily Grammer took off her usual goalkeeper's jersey to enter the field in the 2nd half and score a third UWF goal from the top of the box into lower right hand corner at 67:16 while Amber Pennybaker took a nice toe-touch pass from Bell who was just outside the right post to score from five yards in the 78th minute. The Lady Argos would finalize events with an unassisted fifth goal just under the crossbar by Sofie Broch-Lips from the top of the box in the 81st minute.

Dalessio made eight saves against 27 shots and nine corner kicks by UWF as Ana Churnik earned the shutout versus no SHC shots in 76 minutes. Reserve keeper Katelyn Burkhart collected the only Lady Argos save of the day as Badger sophomore Madison Camet took the only Badger shot of the day.

The Badgers (0-3-2, 0-2 GSC) will next travel to Memphis, Tenn., to face the Christian Brothers University (CBU) Lady Bucs (4-1, 1-0 GSC) at Signaigo Field on Friday at 5 p.m.
