Box Score FLORENCE, Ala. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) baseball team lost a non-conference road game to the University of North Alabama (UNA) Lions by the score of 12-2 in seven innings on Tuesday afternoon at Mike D. Lane Baseball Field.

William Floros from 3rd base with two outs in the 1st inning, but UNA answered right back with a four-run bottom of the inning highlighted by a three-run home run out of right field by first baseman Kyle Hubbuch.
UNA shortstop Brett Guzay successfully executed a sacrifice squeeze bunt in the 2nd inning with one out and runners on the corners to make it a 5-1 ballgame and left fielder Heath Wood would repeat the effort with a mirror of the same play in the 4th inning to build a 6-1 Lion advantage. Guzay then tacked on UNA run number 7 with an RBI-single just one batter later and would score off a wild pitch in the same frame. Lion 3rd baseman Dylan Boston put the exclamation point on the inning with a two-run home run to make the Badger deficit 10-1.

Ryan Stevens drove in sophomore left fielder
Michael Ball in the 6th inning to end the day for UNA starter Kyle Stephenson who moved to 3-0 on the year with seven hits surrendered, a walk and six strikeouts.
The Lions ended the contest via the 10-run "Mercy Rule" in the bottom of the 7th inning when Guzay collected his third hit and his third RBI with one out. Hubbuch earned two hits with three RBIs while Lion lead-off man Dylan Calhoun also slapped two hits for the home team.
Badger starter
Hunter Nowak fell to 2-2 on the season in the loss with 3.2 innings of work with eight hits allowed, no walks and two strikeouts. Floros and Jones each had two hits for Spring Hill.
The Badgers (24-11, 14-0 SIAC) will next travel to Stillman College for a three-game Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) series versus the Tigers (11-17, 10-3 SIAC) at Tiger Field beginning with a 3 p.m. Saturday doubleheader followed on Sunday with a single game at 1 p.m.
