Spring Hill Rugby Reaches Historical Landmark, Launches Hall of Fame
This year's 'Homecoming on the Hill' was even more special for current and former members of Spring Hill Rugby as the program celebrated its 45th anniversary.

The festivities began as familiar faces gathered at Friday evening's Bay Boil to share old stories and new strategies for Saturday's touch rugby match. The next morning, men's and women's players from then and now took to the pitch to play three 10-minute periods of odd versus even graduation years.

After a nice run-around, guests transitioned to the historic Stewartfield House to share a casual meal and enjoy the team's end of year awards ceremony, during which the following student-athletes were recognized by their peers:

Women's Rugby
Newcomer of the Year: Katherine Kuhn
Most Improved Player: Tamiera Nash
Most Outstanding Back: Shakara Austin
Most Outstanding Forward: Jasmine Brackett
Most Valuable Player: Eryn Swarn
Best & Fairest Award: Nicole Stout

Men's Rugby
Newcomer of the Year: Cole Enmon
Most Improved Player: Mitchell Demboski
Most Outstanding Back: Harry Corbin
Most Outstanding Forward: Jacob Campos
Most Valuable Player: Ryan Flynn
Best & Fairest Award: Braxton Murray

The ceremony also honored the program's inaugural Hall of Fame inductees; the Rugby Hall of Fame was established to recognize individuals, teams and coaches who have selflessly and humbly contributed to Spring Hill Rugby's longstanding legacy.

Robert Markel, Class of 1971, was celebrated as the original founder of the Spring Hill College rugby program.

James O. Devaney IV, Class of 1998, was posthumously recognized for his contagious positive attitude, generous spirit and eagerness to share the game with others.

The 1969-1970 Spring Hill College Rugby Team was recognized for its teamwork and tenacity in sticking together throughout the program's challenging first year.
