Softball motors through SIAC Crossover on Sunday
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 JASPER, Ala. – After seeing their Saturday contests rained out, the Spring Hill College (SHC) softball team ran its season record to 18-4 and its conference record to 5-0 with a 13-5 victory over Claflin University and a 21-1 victory over Paine College at the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Divisional Crossover Tournament at Memorial Park on Sunday.

In the first game, starter Caroline Sagrera improved to 14-3 on the year with a complete-game victory that included 14 strikeouts with three walks and four hits allowed. For the offense, senior shortstop Shea Blanchard had a single, double and home run to go with six RBIs while 3rd baseman Emma Kittrell slapped three hits around the yard.

Blanchard's 1st-inning homer placed her atop the all-time Badger career home runs list with 16 dingers, passing Mariha Partman (2012-13) and Danielle DeLeon (2003-05).

The night game saw the Badgers score 10 runs in the 1st inning and junior starter Sarah Bolotte (1-0) earn her first victory of the season off just two hits allowed in three innings with no walks and eight strikeouts. Freshman Kimberly Small finished the final two innings with one hit, a walk and two strikeouts.

Badger batters rolled up 15 hits as reserve 3rd baseman Rene Kausin roped three hits with a home run and five RBIs. Left fielder Elizabeth Gregory pounded out two hits with two RBIs.

Spring Hill remains in Jasper on Monday to finish play in the SIAC Divisional Crossover Tournament versus Fort Valley State University at 2 p.m. and Clark Atlanta University at 6 p.m.
