Badger Baseball splits DH with LSU-Alexandria
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Spring Hill College (SHC) baseball team closed out a 3-game non-conference series with a doubleheader versus the LSU-Alexandria (LSUA) Generals and earned a split on the day taking the first game 5-4, but dropping the second game 8-5 at historic Stan Galle Field on Saturday afternoon.

Senior starter Jackson Howard (1-1) picked up the win in the opening contest going five innings with seven hits, a walk and two strikeouts while junior Johnathan Billings earned his first save of the year in two innings of work with three hits allowed. Jacob Gomez took the loss for the Generals (3-3) and allowed five hits with five walks and three strikeouts in 4.2 innings of work.

Sophomore Jordan Fontenelle (0-1) was tagged with the loss in the nightcap working 2.2 innings in his first Badger start and giving up three hits, three walks and a strikeout. Austin Wilson was the winner in relief of LSUA starter Pierce Liberta by going 4.1 innings with seven hits, no walks and two strikeouts. The save went to Cory Gaulden who came into the game with no outs and a runner on 1st base in the 9th frame when he coaxed a ground ball double play and fly out to center to close out the contest.

At the plate, freshman 2nd baseman Hunter DArmond had three hits and two RBI on the day while junior left fielder Matthew Spradlin collected three hits and a run driven in. For the Generals, seven hitters had multiple hits on the day with right fielder Bond Babin collecting three hits including a home run in opening game and 3rd baseman Jami Rachal adding a triple and home run in the nightcap.

Spring Hill (1-3) will host non-conference foe the 35th-ranked University of West Florida Argonauts (5-0) at Stan Galle Field on Wednesday beginning at 4 p.m.
