Badger women bitten by Lady Tigers, 51-45
Box Score TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) women's basketball team saw its three-game winning streak snapped on Monday night with a 51-45 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) West Division road loss to the Stillman College Lady Tigers at Birthright Alumni Hall.

The Lady Tigers (9-15, 9-7 SIAC West) held a 7-2 lead five minutes into the contest, but the Badgers stormed back to take a 16-13 lead off a 3-point bucket by freshman guard Jennifer Clark with 7:01 until halftime.

Stillman took back the lead at 2:01 when Schenia Battle knocked down a 3-pointer to make it a 19-18 contest as the teams went to the locker rooms with Stillman ahead 21-20.

Similar to the start of the 1st half, the Lady Tigers grabbed a quick 28-20 advantage four minutes into the 2nd half and maintained a 36-29 cushion with 10 minutes left to play. Stillman took a double digit lead at 41-31 with 7:04 remaining

Sophomore center Leah Washington had 10 points to lead the Badger charge and senior forward Twarner Witherspoon hauled in 10 rebounds. Spring Hill shot just 28.6% (16-56) from the field and 16.7% (3-18) in 3-point attempts, but out-rebounded the Lady Tigers 45-36. The Badgers turned the ball over 26 times versus 11 steals by Stillman.

The Lady Tigers sank 28.8% (15-52) of their shots from the floor and 20% (3-15) of their 3-point shots while losing 19 turnovers to 11 Badger steals. Angel Mitchell led all scorers with 13 points while Battle added 12 more points for Stillman.

The Badgers (12-11, 9-6 SIAC West) will wrap up the 2014-2015 season with a three-game home stand that begins on Thursday with an SIAC contest versus the West Division leading Kentucky State University Thorobrettes (18-4, 13-2 SIAC West) at 6 p.m. in the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
