Box Score The Spring Hill College (SHC) women's basketball team lost a 65-51 decision to non-conference foe the University of Montevallo Lady Falcons at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center on Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Falcons (3-4) trailed the Badgers 16-11 in the 1st period, but stormed back to dominate the 2nd period 23-9 and take a 34-25 into the locker rooms at intermission.
Montevallo continued to outplay Spring Hill in the 3rd period winning the stanza 20-12 and stretching the advantage to 54-37. The SHC ladies twice cut their deficit to 13 points in the 4th period with the last being at 58-45 with 5:16 left on the clock, but could draw no closer in the final minutes.
Junior forward
Brittney Davis scored eight points to pace the Badgers on offense as SHC shot 35.2% (19-54) from the field and 23.8% (5-21) of their 3-point attempts.
Camry Johnson hauled in eight rebounds, but the Montevallo out-rebound the Badgers 39-31. The Badgers turned the ball over 21 times versus 11 Falcon steals resulting in 23 points for the visitors while Montevallo lost the ball 20 times against 12 steals and SHC converted them into 12 points on the other end.
Jacquelyn Thompson and Rayvon Christian both came off the bench to score 18 and 16 points respectively for Montevallo while Katherine Goldsby tallied a game-high 11 rebounds. The Falcons made 44.6% (25-56) of the shots overall including 38.9% (7-18) of their 3-pointers.
The Badgers (2-5, 1-0 SIAC West) will host Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) opponent the Miles College Lady Bears (5-2, 1-0 SIAC West) on Monday beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
