Flames scald Badger women, 3-1
Box Score The Spring Hill College (SHC) women's soccer team suffered a 3-1 Gulf South Conference home loss to the Lee University Lady Flames on Sunday afternoon at Library Field.

The Lady Flames (5-3-2, 4-1 GSC) broke the scoring ice in the 34th minute when Kinsey Cichowitz dribbled through traffic in the box and ripped a shot past senior Badger goalkeeper Maggie Dalessio of St. Petersburg, Fla., in a one-on-one situation. Five minutes later, Lee made it a 2-0 contest after Summer Lanter took a pass from Sarah Standley on the left side and blasted a goal from the very top of the box.

Spring Hill answered in the 41st minute as junior Lillian DeSousa out of Mary G. Montgomery High School in Mobile connected on a perfect header from three yards out off a beautifully placed corner kick by sophomore Madison Camet of Kenner, La.

Lanter provided Lee with an insurance goal in the 55th minute from three yards out on the left side after collecting an entry from Cichowitz at the top left corner of the keeper's box.

"I was happy with our work rate and thought we moved the ball around the pitch pretty well again," said SHC interim head coach Michael Patrick. "We lost to one of the better teams we've competed against this season today, but think we showed moments in that match that we are capable of competing with the best teams in our conference. We learned some things about ourselves in this loss and will continue to strive to get better. Again, I'm really proud of their efforts on the pitch today."

Dalessio (1-6-2) earned seven saves against 27 shots and nine corners from the Lady Flames while Lee goalkeeper Erin Olsen (1-0) made four saves against six shots and one corner attempt by Spring Hill.

The Badgers (1-6-2, 1-5 GSC) travel to Florence on Thursday to face the 15th-ranked University of North Alabama Lady Lions (8-1-1, 4-1 GSC) in a conference tilt beginning at 7 p.m. at Bill Jones Athletic Complex.
