Box Score The Spring Hill College (SHC) volleyball team closed its 2015 conference season with a 3-0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-19) Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) home victory over the Stillman College Lady Tigers at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center on Friday night.
In the opening set, SHC used an 8-2 run to elbow out some breathing room and turn a close 9-8 lead into a 17-10 advantage that they would not relinquish. The second set saw the Badger sprint out to a 7-3 cushion only to watch as Stillman clawed back to within 7-6. A four-point run by the Badgers to reclaim an 18-12 bulge spelled disaster for the visitors from Tuscaloosa as SHC won the race to 25 in a 25-16 decision.
The night's final set was a back-and-forth affair with eight ties and four lead changes until a decisive 8-0 run by Spring Hill made it a 20-12 lead in route to 25-19 final score.
Individually for the Badgers, sophomores
Randi De'Armitt of New Orleans and
Katelyn Bobinger from McGill-Toolen Catholic High School in Mobile each had 10 kills. De'Armitt also added three aces and 13 digs to her totals while senior setter
Mallory Raulerson of McGill-Toolen passed out 36 assists and senior
Virginia Hicks of Salt Lake City, Utah, collected three solo blocks.
Stillman was paced by Shan Lewis-Brooks with five kills and a solo block, Kendra Ramos with 11 assists and Danylle Everson with 17 digs.
Spring Hill held the Lady Tigers (18-18, 11-9 SIAC West) to a -.011 (17-18-91) attack percentage while building a solid .240 (45-15-125) attack percentage of their side of the net. The Badgers served up six aces with eight total team blocks and 49 digs. Stillman earned four aces with two blocks and 57 digs.
The Badgers (23-6, 19-1 SIAC West) will finish the 2015 season at the University of Mobile Lady Rams (25-5) on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in H. Austill Pharr Gymnasium.
