UAH moves Wright past Spring Hill, 2-1
Box Score The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) Chargers used two goals by Jordan Wright to top the Spring Hill College (SHC) men's soccer team 2-1 in a Gulf South Conference (GSC) contest at Charger Park on Sunday evening.

Wright first struck pay-dirt for the Chargers (9-4, 7-1 GSC) in the 12th minute from inside the left side of the goalkeeper's box and past the far post for his 12th goal of the season off an assist by Guy Clennett.

In the 55th minute the Badger deficit grew to 2-0 when a header by Wright off an entry pass by Leo De Smedt found the net after the ball was played from the right side of box and finished from in front of the goal.

Not to be deterred, Spring Hill answered back four minutes later with a goal by redshirt freshman Viktor Kvarnlof with an assist by freshman Joakim Aakerlund that came from out of a pack in front of the goal.

"The boys played very hard again without a result to show for it," said SHC head coach Steve Wieczorek following the game. "This marks our fifth defeat by one goal to a nationally ranked or conference leading opponent. These experiences will undoubtedly prove valuable in the growth and development of our program."

SHC goalkeeper junior Will Carpenter (2-10), who transferred to Spring Hill after two seasons at UAH, made six saves versus 18 shots and 10 corners kicks by the Chargers.

Charger keeper Michael Winstone collected one save in the face of four shots and nine corner attempts by the Badgers.

The Badgers (2-10, 0-6 GSC) will next host the Mississippi College Choctaws (3-9-1, 1-5-1 GSC) on Friday in a conference tilt at Library Field beginning at 3:30 p.m.  Earlier this year, SHC won a 1-0 non-conference decision versus the Choctaws in Clinton, Miss.
