Box Score 2 The Spring Hill College (SHC) volleyball team completed a five-match sweep of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) West Division Cluster II on Saturday with straight-set victories over the Miles College Golden Bears and Lane College Lady Dragons at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
In the first match versus Miles, SHC earned a 3-0 (25-9, 25-16, 25-8) decision over the Golden Bears (6-16, 6-12 SIAC) as senior setter
Mallory Raulerson handed out 29 assists with an ace and three digs while junior
Madison Seuzeneau slapped down 10 kills. Sophomore
Randi De'Armitt picked up five of the Badgers nine services aces
Overall, the Badgers built a .406 (36-8-69) attack percentage with 26 digs and two total blocks. LOC was held to a -.107 (18-26-75) attack percentage with an ace, 18 digs and two blocks.
In the weekend's final match, SHC coasted to a 3-0 (25-5, 25-9, 25-5) victory over the Lady Dragons (0-27, 0-20 SIAC) of Lane College. Freshman
Grace Herrington distributed 27 assists with seven service aces and senior
Virginia Hicks added 10 kills. Spring Hill built a .491 (34-6-57) attack percentage and held Lane to -.156 (6-11-32) with one ace, no blocks and 16 digs. The Badgers served up 24 aces with 15 total digs and no blocks on defense.
"Thought we played well as a team over the weekend and especially versus a very good Kentucky State team on Friday," said SHC head coach
Peggy Martin. "After a third set that was really ugly on our part, we were able to close out the fourth set with a comeback and take the match (versus KSU). Raulerson had a really good match as well as
Molly Griffin on the offensive side."
The Badgers (22-6, 18-1 SIAC) will host SIAC West Division rival the Stillman College Lady Tigers (15-15, 12-8 SIAC) on Friday, October 30, at 6 p.m. at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center. Before the match, the Badgers will honor their senior teammates with the annual Senior Night ceremony.
