Box Score 3 The Spring Hill College (SHC) volleyball team earned three consecutive home conference victories on Friday at the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) West Division Cluster II hosted at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
In the day's opening match, SHC raced to a 3-0 (25-7, 25-5, 25-10) victory over the LeMoyne-Owen College Lady Magicians (8-17, 5-13 SIAC) as senior setter
Mallory Raulerson handed around 25 assists with an ace and eight digs while junior outside hitter
Molly Griffin had three aces.
Overall, the Badgers built a .443 (36-5-70) attack percentage with 11 aces, 35 digs and three total blocks. LOC managed just a -.203 (7-20-64) attack percentage with an ace, 27 digs and no blocks.
The afternoon match with the Kentucky State University Thorobrettes (15-8, 14-1 SIAC) was the highlight of the first day of the cluster as SHC took a thrilling 3-1 (25-19, 25-20, 23-25, 25-23) decision over the visitors. The win extracted a small measure of revenge for the Badgers as the Thorobrettes snapped a 67-match regular season conference win streak for the Badgers in a 3-1 score earlier this season.
Raulerson continued to roll with 49 assists, two aces and 15 digs while Griffin racked up 17 kills. Other big scorers for SHC included junior
Madison Seuzeneau with 15 kills and sophomore
Randi De'Armitt with 10 kills. SHC totaled a .282 (65-19-163) with five aces, 62 digs and seven total blocks.
For KSU, Tahje Ochs had 16 kills while Anjelique Kyle tallied 47 assists. The Thorobrettes attacked at a .204 (54-23-152) percentage with two aces, 72 digs and six total blocks.
In the nightcap, SHC coasted to a 3-0 (25-7, 25-8, 25-20) victory over the Lady Marauders (2-17, 2-13 SIAC) of Central State University. Freshman
Grace Herrington distributed 17 assists and sophomore
Hannah Masoner picked up 10 kills with three aces. Spring Hill built a .279 (28-9-68) attack percentage and held CSU to -.106 (15-22-66) with one ace, one block and 29 digs.
The Badgers (20-6, 16-1 SIAC) will continue in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) West Division Cluster on Saturday at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center versus Miles College at 10 a.m. and Lane College 1 p.m.
