Front line of Badgers overpowers Loyola in 3-0 victory
Box Score NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Spring Hill College (SHC) volleyball team took a 3-0 (25-11, 25-14, 25-18) non-conference road victory over the Loyola University (La.) at The Den on Monday night and stretched its current winning streak over the Wolf Pack to 11 matches.

Spring Hill bolted out to a 14-6 lead over the Wolf Pack (13-12) in the first set as the middle of the Badger front line in Dorina Klinger and Madison Seuzeneau overpowered the Wolf Pack line in the match's early stages. The second set saw Spring Hill claw out a slim 5-4 lead early and then expand to a 12-6 cushion in route to a 25-14 win as the SHC net game continued to dominate the match.

In the third set, Loyola responded with an early 9-6 lead over the Badgers as the Wolf Pack moved its attack to the Badger back line while SHC continued to focus on their front line's power game. The shift in strategy kept the Wolf Pack ahead at 15-12, but SHC rallied to even the score at 15-15 behind the serving of Molly Griffin. After trading points to 17-17, Randi De'Armitt served the Badgers to a crucial 21-17 advantage late in the set as SHC went on to close the set at 25-18.

Klinger and De'Armitt both recorded eight kills for SHC as senior setter Mallory Raulerson handed out 30 assists to go along with her three service aces. Griffin added four aces, two kills and eight digs in a solid all-around effort by the junior from Westlake Village, Calif. On defense, the Badgers were paced by Hailey Kirkpatrick with 13 digs, and Klinger's 4.5 blocks.

"In the first two sets, we played the best volleyball we have played all year," said SHC head coach Peggy Martin after the match. "We really served and passed very well."

As a team, SHC hit .206 (34-13-102) with 14 service aces, 59 digs and seven total blocks while allowing Loyola to attack at a miniscule .010 (22-21-104) rate with three aces, 49 digs and three blocks.

Spring Hill's 11-match winning streak over Loyola began with a 3-0 victory on October 26, 2010 and  tops the 10-match streak that the Wolf Pack built to open the series, but the Wolf Pack still holds a 20-16 lead in the overall series that dates back to 2001.

The Badgers (17-6, 13-1 SIAC) will host the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) West Division Cluster on Friday and Saturday at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center. SHC begins play in the Cluster at 3 p.m. on Friday versus the LeMoyne-Owen College Magicians.
