Box Score 2 MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Spring Hill college volleyball team split results for the second consecutive day at the annual Faulkner University Invitational in Davis Gymnasium on Saturday. In the opening match, SHC fell 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-18) versus the Lindsey Wilson College Blue Raiders and then bounced back to beat the Truett-McConnell Bears 3-1 (25-16, 21-25, 25-15, 25-13) in the nightcap.
In the morning match with Lindsey Wilson (8-2), sophomore
Savannah Becnel of Metairie, La., tallied eight kills with a solo block and a service ace to lead the Badger charge. The Blue Raiders held SHC to a .132 average (31-16-114) with just one block and one service ace. LWC, on the other hand, held a .318 average (47-11-113) with four blocks and five aces.
In the afternoon contest with Truett-McConnell (0-3), senior
Megan Haber of Lillian, Ala., recorded 18 kills and three block assists while freshman setter
Marie Rooks had 22 assists. Junior
Mallory Raulerson of Mobile collected 10 of the Badgers 44 digs. As team, SHC hit for a .287 average (48-15-115) with 44 digs, and nine blocks while dishing out 10 service aces.
Following the the tournament, Haber was named to the 2014 All-Tournament team.
Spring Hill (2-3) will next travel to New Orleans, La., on Tuesday to face Jesuit rival the Loyola University Wolf Pack (2-4) at 7 p.m. in The Den.
