Badger volleyball falls to Faulkner, 3-0
Box Score The Spring Hill College volleyball team lost a non-conference match with the Faulkner University Lady Eagles on Tuesday night by a 3-0 (25-23, 25-23, 25-22) score at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.

The Lady Eagles (13-7) rallied from a 16-12 deficit in the first set to pull out a 25-23 victory and also overcame an 18-16 disadvantage in the second set for another 25-23 victory. In the third set, Faulkner used 9-0 run out of a timeout to turn a 17-12 hole into a 21-17 advantage before wrapping up the match with a 25-22 win.

Sophomore Savannah Becnel of Metairie, La., paced the Badgers with 14 kills and four block assists while freshman Marie Rooks of Tallahassee, Fla., handed out 31 assists Senior Sami Maurer of St. Louis, Mo., collected had 12 digs with 14 receptions while sophomore Molly Griffin of Westlake Village, Calif., had 23 receptions and nine digs.

As a team, SHC hit for a .087 average (28-27-126) with three aces, 46 digs and five total blocks.

Faulkner used a balanced attack as Elissa Cargile had eight kills as Morgan Wilson issued 16 assists and Jordan Jones distributed 14 assists. Lindsey Ortner collected 32 receptions with 13 digs for the Eagles. All told, Faulkner hit for a .171 average (36-18-105) with three aces, 45 digs and six total blocks.

Spring Hill (13-4, 9-0 SIAC) now travels to Tuscaloosa this weekend to compete in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) West Division Round-Up beginning on Friday at 12 p.m. on the campus of Stillman College versus Kentucky State University (12-5, 11-1 SIAC).
