Spring Hill ladies outlast Union 2-1 in 2 OTs
Box Score The Spring Hill College women's soccer team pushed the Bulldogs of Union University (Tenn.) into the 110th minute of play before winning a 2-1 Gulf South Conference (GSC) decision with just 48 seconds remaining in the second overtime session at Library Field on Sunday afternoon.

After a scoreless first half, SHC took a 1-0 lead on the Bulldogs (2-4, 0-2 GSC) in the 62nd minute when junior Courtney Harlan out of McGill-Toolen Catholic High School in Mobile took a short pass from fellow junior Sidi Genus of Great Bay, Jamaica, and drilled a score into the top shelf.

Union answered right back just four minutes later with a goal off a free kick by Hannah Miller that found Kay Morgan who finished for a tally.

Both teams had chances thorough out regulation and the first 10-minute overtime, but it took a goal into the bottom right corner of the goal by a sliding Hannah Michael of New Orleans, La., that came off a nice touch pass from the top of the box by sophomore Darby Rasch of Madison, Ala., and an entry by freshman Madison Camet of Kenner, La., to decide the issue with just 48 seconds showing on the clock.

Senior goalkeeper Abby Massengale (2-0) of New Orleans earned the victory in-goal with seven saves against 17 shots by the Bulldogs while Union's Kristen Francis took the loss with seven saves against 22 Badger shots. SHC dominated the corners with eight corner kicks to just one for Union.

With the win, Spring Hill earned their first GSC victory since joining the conference this year.

Spring Hill (3-3, 1-2 GSC) will wrap up its current three-game home stand with a GSC bout with the University of North Alabama Lady Lions (5-1, 2-1 GSC) on Tuesday at Library Field in a 4 p.m. kickoff.
