Box Score 3 FORT VALLEY, Ga. - The Spring Hill college volleyball team continued to roll with three victories at the opening day of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Division Crossover Tournament hosted by Fort Valley State University on Thursday.
In the event's opening match, the Badgers faced host Fort Valley State (2-5, 0-1 SIAC) and downed the Wildcats 3-0 (25-7, 25-20, 25-8). Senior
Megan Haber of Lillian, Ala., ripped out 14 kills with a service ace and 2.5 blocks while freshman setter
Marie Rooks of Tallahassee, Fla., distributed 39 assists. Junior
Mallory Raulerson of Mobile's McGill-Toolen Catholic High School served up five of the Badgers 13 aces and senior
Sami Maurer of St. Louis, Mo., scooped up 10 of Badgers' 40 digs on the morning. As a team, SHC hit for a .357 average (40-10-84) with four total blocks.
SHC took on the Paine College Lions (1-8, 0-2 SIAC) in the afternoon match and cruised to a 3-0 (25-7, 25-16, 25-20) victory in which Rooks handed out another 36 assists and Haber recorded another 10 kills. Raulerson again served up five aces as the Badgers notched 17 aces as a team. In total, SHC recorded a .289 attack percentage (37-11-90) with 53 digs and eight blocks.
The evening match saw the Badgers blow past the Clark Atlanta University Panthers (0-9, 0-2 SIAC) in a 3-0 (25-11, 25-17, 25-12) decision. Haber remained hot with 11 more kills and sophomore
Madison Seuzeneau from Tampa, Fla., rang up 15 kills with a .625 attack percentage (15-0-24). Rooks passed around more 38 more assists with two service aces and sophomore
Molly Griffin of Westlake Village, Calif., served up five aces with 12 digs. Overall, SHC recorded a .456 attack percentage (39-3-79) with 14 aces, 37 digs and eight blocks.
Spring Hill (10-3, 6-0 SIAC) will remain in Fort Valley on Friday to continue play in the SIAC Division Crossover beginning at 9 a.m. versus the Albany State University Golden Rams (0-3, 0-0 SIAC).
