Badgers take slide against UMobile, 3-1
Box Score The Spring Hill College volleyball team fell to the University of Mobile Lady Rams in a non-conference match by a 3-1 (24-26, 23-25, 25-15, 19-25) decision at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center on Tuesday night.

Mobile (23-3) took an early 1-0 set lead after winning a 26-24 war in the first set in which the Badgers rallied from a 13-6 hole to tie the set at 24-24 before seeing the Lady Rams take the final two points.

The second set was another classic between the crosstown rivals as Mobile held off a concerted late SHC rally to win 25-23 after leading by as much as 14-7 midway through the set.

Spring Hill final broke through for a win in set two when after trailing 3-0 to open the set the Badgers built out a 19-14 lead and forced a fourth set with a 25-15 win. The final set, however, went the way of the Lady Rams as a six-point UMobile run turned a 5-4 deficit into a 10-5 advantage from which the Badgers never fully recovered.

Spring Hill was led by senior Megan Haber of Lillian, Ala., with 15 kills while freshman Marie Rooks of Tallahassee, Fla., handed out 38 assists. Freshman Morgan Murphy from Chicago, Ill., roped 17 digs and 17 receptions.  As a team, SHC built a .150 hitting percentage (47-24-153) with three aces, 62 digs and five total blocks.

UMobile was paced by Maegan Wilkins with 14 kills and Taylor Harper distributed 43 assists as Katy McCollister scooped in 13 digs with 28 receptions. In total, Mobile hit for a .189 attack percentage (59-29-159) with two aces 67 digs and 13 total blocks.

Spring Hill (25-7) will wrap up its 2014 season with a non-conference home match on Thursday versus the Dillard University Lady Bleu Devils (10-8) at 6 p.m. in the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center. Before the match, the Badgers will honor their three senior teammates with the annual Senior Night ceremony.
