Box Score 2 TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Spring Hill College volleyball team completed a perfect 17-0 record in its first season in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) on Saturday by sweeping a conference tri-match from the Stillman College Lady Tigers and the Miles College Golden Bears in a pair of 3-0 decisions at Birthright Alumni Hall.
In the morning contest, SHC bagged the Stillman Lady Tigers (11-11, 6-10 SIAC) by the scores of 25-13, 25-20, 25-19. Senior
Megan Haber of Lillian, Ala., knocked down 10 kills as freshman
Marie Rooks of Tallahassee, Fla., passed around 29 assists and freshman
Morgan Murphy of Chicago, Ill., collected 14 digs with 15 receptions.
Altogether, the Badgers held a .165 (38-18-121) attack percentage with five service aces, 45 digs and seven total team blocks while holding Stillman to a -.011 (21-22-91) attack percentage with 57 digs and three blocks.
Spring Hill stopped the Golden Bears (9-16, 8-10 SIAC) of Miles in scores of 25-10, 25-10, 25-9 as sophomore
Savannah Becnel of Metairie, La., recorded eight kills and Rooks handed out another 31 assists. Murphy scooped in nine digs with 10 receptions. In the end, SHC totaled a .444 (36-8-63) attack percentage with seven aces, 21 digs and six total blocks.
Miles was held to a -.032 (15-17-62) attack percentage with one ace, 17 digs and four blocks.
Spring Hill (25-6, 17-0 SIAC) returns home on Tuesday to host archrival the University of Mobile Lady Rams (22-3) beginning at 7 p.m. in the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.
