Haber knocks down No. 1500 as Badgers beat Loyola 3-1
Box Score The Spring Hill College volleyball team took a 3-1 (25-21, 23-25, 25-22, 25-11) non-conference decision away from Jesuit rival the Loyola University (La.) Wolf Pack on Thursday night at the Arthur R. Outlaw Recreation Center.

The Wolf Pack (10-16) jumped out to an early 7-2 advantage in the first set, but the Badgers rallied to tie the set at 7-7. From there the teams went toe-to-toe trading points until SHC managed to claw out a 16-13 bulge that grew to 23-19 as SHC took the first set 25-21.

The second set saw Loyola rally from an 18-15 deficit to tie the set at 18-18 and then use a 4-1 run including a controversial reversal of a point to take a 22-19 lead. Spring Hill fought back to a 23-23 deadlock, but Loyola found the final two points to tie the match at one set apiece.

Spring Hill and Loyola hammered away at each other throughout the third set with neither side taking more than a two-point lead until SHC scratched out a late 23-20 margin that stood up for a 25-22 final and a 2-1 Badger lead in the match.

The Wolf Pack was the first to blink in the fourth set as the Badgers built a commanding lead right out the gate at 12-2. Lillian, Ala., native senior Megan Haber's 1,500th career point made it a 13-3 Badger bulge as SHC cruised to a 25-11 close for the 3-1 match victory.

Haber slapped down 18 kills with seven block assists to lead all scorers as sophomore Molly Griffin of Westlake Village, Calif., was right behind her with 16 kills, 21 digs and 27 receptions. Freshman setter Marie Rooks of Tallahassee, Fla., distributed 45 assists. As a team, the Badgers tabulated a .254 kill percentage (61-18-169) with six aces, 71 digs and 11 total team blocks.

Eva Allen paced Loyola with 11 kills while Daniela Leal had 37 assists and Becca Burnett tallied 25 digs with 24 receptions. The Wolf Pack collected a .191 attack percentage (52-22-157) with one ace 79 digs and seven total team blocks.

Spring Hill (23-6, 15-0 SIAC) will travel to Tuscaloosa on Saturday to play in the final SIAC West Division Tri-Match of the season versus Stillman College (11-10, 6-9 SIAC) and Miles College (9-15, 8-9 SIAC) beginning at 11 a.m. in Birthright Alumni Hall.
