Three Badger goals stun Chargers as SHC upsets No. 24 UAH, 3-2
Box Score The Spring Hill College men's soccer team stunned the 24th-ranked University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) Chargers with two goals in the 1st half and then a determined defensive stand in the 2nd period to take a 3-2 Gulf South Conference (GSC) victory on Sunday afternoon at Library Field.

The Badgers broke out in front 1-0 following a penalty kick goal by senior Mario Escalante of Santa Cruz, Bolivia in the 26th minute after UAH was whistled for a handball in the box.

Freshman Dinard Garrett of Kalmar, Sweden put the Chargers (11-3, 6-2 GSC) in a 2-0 hole in the 36th minute when a shot by junior Andrew McInnis of Mandeville, La.,  following an entry pass by junior defenseman Jose Scheuren of Miami, Fla., deflected off Garrett for the goal inside the left post.

UAH answered back in the 70th minute when Anthony Benitez punched a header past the feet of Badger senior goalkeeper Patrick Danner of Tampa, Fla. after accepting a left-to-right assist from the top of the keeper's box by Bailey Oliver.

Senior Dylan Gardner of Waterloo, Ill., added what turned out to be a crucial insurance goal for Spring Hill in the 82nd minute off a nifty give-and-go play at the top of the box with Escalante. The Chargers made the final five minutes interesting for the fans in attendance when Ryo Suzuki ripped in a strike from 20 yards out in the 86th minute of play, but Spring Hill refused to die and successfully ran out the clock for the upset victory.

Spring Hill (3-8, 2-4 GSC) will next play a GSC contest at the Mississippi College Choctaws (8-5, 3-4 GSC) in Clinton, Miss., on Friday at 3 p.m.
