Box Score The Spring Hill College women's soccer team pushed the University of West Alabama (UWA) Tigers as far as they could go in a Gulf South Conference (GSC) match at Library Field on Friday evening, but neither team found a victory as the game ended in a 2-2 stalemate after two overtimes and 110 minutes of action.
Spring Hill opened the scoring in the 5th minute of play when junior
Courtney Harlan of Mobile accepted a corner kick from junior
Aedan Stranahan of Eureka, Calif., and found the back of the net from five yards out. The Tigers (10-2-1, 6-1-1 GSC) answered back in the 21st minute as Nicki Gears took a long pass from Lauren Tate down the right side and scored a one-on-one goal against Badger junior keeper
Maggie Dalessio (1-6-1) of St. Petersburg, Fla.
Harlan struck back again in the 38th minute when she cranked a 20-yard shot into the top shelf of the goal from dead center over a leaping UWA keeper Issy Foster.
The Tigers knotted the game back up at 2-2 in the 76th minute when Nina Coleman accepted an entry pass from Gears to score from six yards out in the center of the box.
Dalessio took over the game in the second 10-minute overtime period making six saves including two one-on-one opportunities by Gears. In total, Dalessio made 11 saves against 21 shots and six corners to earn the hard-fought draw. Foster made one save for UWA against nine shots and seven Badger corner attempts.
