MOBILE, Ala. – The Spring Hill men's tennis team picked up a pair of victories on Day One of the SIAC Round-Up, defeating Tuskegee 5-2 before following up with a 5-0 sweep of LeMoyne-Owen. The Round-Up runs through Friday, with the Badgers playing two matches per day.
Match Details:
The Golden Tigers picked up the doubles point in the first match, but the Badgers went to work in singles action, with Filipe Grebenstov quickly picking up a victory in the first set to get Spring Hill on the board.
Evan Patton followed with a 6-1, 6-3 win on Court 5 to give SHC a 2-1 lead, with
Luke Bedwell's 6-4, 6-3 Court 4 victory adding to the Badgers' total.
Will Huckell came away with a 6-4, 6-3 win in the fourth flight to officially earn the clinching point, while
Tom Ruel was credited with a win after his opponent retired on Court 3.
Spring Hill changed up the lineup for the nightcap but still managed to sweep doubles before earning a point by default in singles action to go up 2-0.
Leonard Wendland made his collegiate debut with a 6-0, 6-0 win on Court 4, and Patton earned the clinch with another clean 6-0, 6-0 sweep on Court 2.
