Spring Hill track turns in huge day ahead of SIAC Championships

MOBILE, Ala. – The Spring Hill track and field teams wrapped up the USSU Invitational on Saturday, and the weekend turned out to be historical for the Badger programs.

Nastasi followed with a third-place time of 21.48 in the 200 to set a new personal best and a new program record, leading a group of four Spring Hill runners in the event.

Freshman Erik Lindmark gave the Badgers an event win with a new career best time of 1:57.31 in the men's 800, holding off a trio of runners from Loyola while moving into second on the program record book. Lindmark shaved more than three full seconds off his previous best, and he has now improved his mark in each of the last three meets.

In the men's 1500, Zachary Thomas turned in a top-five finish behind a time of 4:22.22, nearly eight seconds ahead of the next competitor. Luke Burlison (17.36.49) and Grant Holder were the top two affiliated runners in the 5K, with the latter turning in the best mark of his career.

Theo Hubbard came in fifth place in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.40, and freshman Ben Harris (56.68) followed with a PR in the 400m hurdles to finish in third place. In the final men's track event of the day, Hubbard, Kobe King, Alston and Nastasi teamed up for a time of 42.89 in the 4x100 relay, good enough for second place.

Alston (5.84m/19' 2") picked up 11th place in the men's long jump, while King gave Spring Hill another event victory with a winning attempt of 14.21m to set a new program record.

Program record holder JaTerralyn Hamilton won the women's 100 with a time of 11.87 before following with another first-place finish in the 200, where she came away with a mark of 25.48. Miriam Cosky (27.36), Ferrin Westry (28.40) and Lilly Legnon (29.07) came in 8th, 10th and 11th respectively in the 200, giving the Badgers four of the top 11 runners.

Hererra later finished as the top affiliated competitor in the women's 5K, as her time of 18:19.17 added yet another new program record to the list for the weekend. Cosky (1:05.54) followed with a new program record and a first-place finish of her own in the 400 hurdles, and Ferrin Westry (1:09.25) gave SHC a 1-2 finish.

Freshman Kerrigan Klevanosky kept the momentum going with a new PR time of 15:12.43 in the women's steeplechase, taking home third place individually.

Spring Hill dominated in the women's pole vault by taking four of the top six spots on the individual leaderboard, highlighted by Lorilai Hymel, who tied a program record with a height of 2.90m (9' 6 ¼") in just her fourth collegiate meet. Claudia Billedeaux picked up a third-place finish in the women's shot put, doing so behind a toss of 10.48m (34' 4 ¾").
